We have a wide “open door” policy where kids are concerned. We believe that early exposure to the arts and history make for a better and well rounded person. At the Malta Postal Museum we believe in doing things properly and as such have created specific activities for children.
Our ‘work’ (more like fun) books/sheets cater for children between 8-10 years of age and for those slightly older at 11-13 years of age. Schools will appreciate this as we have waved our magic wand to tie in aspects of our collection with the National Curriculum. School heads and teachers interested in availing themselves of this service are kindly asked to contact the curator for more information on 25961750 or by sending their enquiry to This email address is being protected from spambots. We also like to see our young visitors role play so there are plenty of postmen uniforms to wear while they pretend to be a postman for a couple of hours.
Our favourite task is encouraging children to design their own stamp (according to a specific topic). The best submissions are entered into a nation-wide competition, will be exhibited and may even make it to a real-life stamp. Imagine that!
Children can also write and send a postcard. Our museum post office can help them find their preferred card, purchase a stamp and pop it in our letter box.
We don’t restrict the fun to children – adults can ask for a paper-based treasure hunt which can be completed while the kids are busy dressing up.
